January 15, 2020: Annual General Meeting + “Le Jardin de Francois” Presented by Susan Marshall

The evening will begin with our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will include a review of the club’s finances and a vote on the Executive members. The AGM will be followed by photos and commentary by Susan Marshall on “Les Jardins de Francois’, a St. Sauveur garden she visited this summer.
Please note that the re-opening of the Herb Linder Annex has been delayed and our January locale is at the Beaconsfield Rec Centre for this occasion only.

March 11, 2020: ” Welcome to Gannaiden – Garden of Possibilities ” Presented by Elaine Steinberg

Elaine Steinberg will present an overview of Gannaiden and a few tips and tricks on her ‘design-maintenance’ program. Started as a private family garden in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Gannaiden opened to the public in 2017 as a sculpture-garden, with works by her husband, well-known Canadian sculptor Marcel Braitstein. “Hands on the land is important to me. I have always wanted to grow old gardening.”

This talk covers the historical origins of the tulip, its history in Holland and its important connection with Canada. It will also cover how to plant and care for the bulbs. Catherine was born in Holland during World War II and came from a family of gardeners. She has always gardened with great enthusiasm and has been taking distance horticulture classes at Guelph University for many years. Given her background, she has of course a great interest in tulips!
