To ensure that everyone will enjoy the day, please respect the visiting schedule.
1. Teri Waldron-Lepore and Ron Lepore, 7 Lansdowne Gardens, Pointe Claire [map] Come meander into the garden down the flagstone pathway to the sound of live violin music played by owner Ron Lepore. This garden has been completely redesigned and created within the last 8 years by the owners and is continually evolving. The garden features 15 garden vignettes, a five-tiered awning-covered deck with jacuzzi, two bubbling fountains, several bird baths, and bird houses with chickadees and finches as guests.
2. Joy Love, 255 Nassau St., Beaconsfield [map] Both sun and shade dominate this garden. Many unusual shade loving plants compete with massive tree roots for survival. While the process has largely been one of trial and error, a calm mature shade garden sanctuary has emerged, with foliage predominating. You will discover several beds of sun-loving perennials as well.
3. Sherry and Michael Whitcomb, 44 Watterson, Baie d’Urfé [map] This property is nestled into a hill guarded by 400 tons of rock lining the driveway. Note the rectangular pond in the front garden, designed by Marilyn and constructed by Michael. The gardens contain a wide variety of perennials.
4. Anne Dodge, 100 Somerset, Baie d’Urfé [map] A real gardener’s garden from Anne’s own love of plants and hard work. Pottery is ever present. Watch out for the dragon! The lovely pond was made by Anne’s children.
5. Marilyn and Jim Tooley, 72 Oxford, Baie d’Urfé [map] This garden has been lovingly created with form and design as important garden elements. Variation in foliage predominates the property as much as the floral profusion. Marilyn’s favourite perennial is the Hemerocallis or daylily with over 50 different varieties in her collection.
6. Mary Martin, 29 Cedar Crescent, Beaconsfield [map] Rocks, rocks and more rocks are put to imaginative use to eliminate most traces of lawn and act as the frame for an abundance of unusual plants. The large water feature refreshes the viewer and all the local wildlife.
7. Renate Heidersdorf and Erik Graf, 28 Fieldfare, Beaconsfield [map] Park just across the street and prepare to visit one of the West Island’s renowned gardens. Renate and Erik are forerunners in the realm of natural swimming ponds. An oasis of perennials completes the garden. You will feel no longer that you are in Beaconsfield. Enjoy!
Refreshments will be served from 12:30 to 13:30.
